Kohberger’s attorney had already announced his decision not to fight the Idaho authorities’ extradition request, calling today’s hearing a “formality.”

According to US media reports such as CNN or ABC, the suspect was identified by the police through a DNA analysis using public databases.

The murder weapon, which authorities believe was a fixed-edged knife, has not yet been recovered, but the car that took investigators to look for Kohberger at his parents’ house in Pennsylvania, and which had been seen at the crime scene.

At the moment, the Police have not offered a possible motive for the crime, since the investigation is sealed until the suspect appears before an Idaho court.

The quadruple murder shocked the small American town of Moscow (Idaho), where many students reside on the campus of the State University.

On November 13, local authorities, responding to an alert call, found the bodies of four young people (three women and one man) stabbed to death in their beds.

The Moscow Police warned that the investigation would be long, and in total, more than 100 agents were assigned to the case, including local, state and FBI uniforms.
