‘Scratches and bruises’: Prince Harry accuses his brother William of abusing him in 2019

The first passages from his book are sulphurous. Prince Harry, who is at odds with the British royal family, blames his brother William for throwing him to the ground during an argument in 2019. The revelations were made by the British daily The Guardian on Wednesday evening.

Harry and his wife Meghan left the monarchy with a fuss in 2020, leading to a highly publicized split on both sides of the Atlantic. The couple, who live in the United States, have since publicly criticized the royal family several times in interviews or in a recent Netflix documentary.

In his book The Deputy, in reference to his role in the monarchy, to be published on January 10, Harry says he was physically attacked by his older brother William during an argument in London in 2019. During this altercation, the Prince, 38, accuses William of calling Meghan a “difficult” and “rude” woman. According to the British newspaper, then the tone rose and insults were heard.

Caught by the collar and thrown to the ground in a dog bowl

After a heated argument, William “grabbed me by the collar, tore my collar and threw me to the ground,” according to Harry. “I landed on a dog bowl that shattered under my back, the pieces pierced me,” the prince added, saying he remained on the ground “dazed” before asking his brother to leave. Then William “would have apologized,” he elaborates. This fight would have left Harry with “scratches and bruises,” he elaborates, according to the Guardian.

William then reportedly said there was “no need to tell Meghan” about the fight. He would then add that he “did not attack” his brother. Watching her husband’s injuries, Meghan wouldn’t be “so surprised or especially angry.”

Prince Harry said he wants to “reconnect” with his father, King Charles III, and his brother William, with whom he previously seemed very close, in an interview excerpt published on Monday. But their relationship seems far from peaceful. In a Netflix documentary released in December, the couple accused the royal family of lying as well as failing to protect them.

“Now that you have given me a son and a replacement, my duty is done”

Harry took aim at his brother, claiming he “yelled” at him at a family reunion in 2020, which was attended by Queen Elizabeth II. The Sussexes also accuse William and his wife Kate of causing negative press coverage because they “stole the show”. In March 2021, they accused the royal family of callousness and racism in a shocking interview. The British royal family is in a period of transition following the accession of Charles III to the throne following the death of Elizabeth II on September 8th.

The book also returns to allegations of racism by the royal family and those around them that Meghan would especially pay a price for. Harry also reveals what Charles III would have said to his first wife, Princess Diana, known as Lady Di, at the time of Harry’s birth: “Great! Now that you have given me a son and a replacement, my duty is done. »

At the beginning of the book, Harry talks about the request his father would make to him and William in 2021, shortly after the death of Prince Philip, the husband of Elizabeth II. “Please boys don’t make my last years a torture.” Father’s request was not heard.
