Governments of Mexico, Colombia and Chile condemn attack on headquarters of powers in Brazil

The governments of Mexico, Colombia and Chile separately condemned on Sunday the attack by supporters of the former Brazilian president Jair Bolsonaro to the headquarters of the three powers in the capital Brasilia.

Supporters of the far-right former president invaded Brazil’s Supreme Court, the Congress building and surrounded the presidential palace in Brasilia on Sunday, according to television footage.

“We reject any attempt against the democratic institutions that that brotherly people has given themselves.Mexican Foreign Minister Marcelo Ebrard said on his Twitter account.

Along the same lines, the president of Colombia, Gustavo Petro, condemned the events on his Twitter account and called for a “Urgent meeting of the OAS if it wants to continue to live as an institution and apply the democratic charter.”

Meanwhile, the Chilean president, Gabriel Boric, said on the same social network that “the government of Brazil You have our full support in this regard. coward and vile attack on democracy”.
