This is the shocking moment when a wild elephant bumped its head through a kitchen window in Malaysia.
The large mammal threw pots and pans into the air as it maneuvered its trunk in search of a snack.
It visited the house where three farm workers live in the town of Gua Musang, Kelantan state, at 4 am on January 4.
The residents of the house, startled by the noise, ran downstairs to film the encounter.
The footage shows the elephant flipping through the dishes on the sink with its trunk.
The animal then tries to reach further in and presses its head directly against the now empty window frame.
Despite all efforts, the elephant was unable to enter the room.
A man in orange waves at the creature with a lit mosquito coil and chases it into the darkness.
The unruly elephant made off with salt, oil and instant noodles.
Farm worker Mohammad Khairul Faiza Muhammad Din, 30, said: “We were very surprised when we saw an elephant sniffing around the kitchen with its trunk.
It seemed to be looking for food. After it passed our kitchen, it headed for the woods.’
Although the creature didn’t harm anyone, it alerted the workers, who feared more elephants would come and loot the house.
Faiza said: “In six years of work, this is the first time we have seen such an incident.
“Elephants have repeatedly damaged palm oil plantations, but now they have even invaded residential areas. We are very concerned.’
Kelantan National Park and the Animal Welfare Service said they have launched an investigation into the incident.
The staff believe the hungry jumbo was lured in by the smell of the food.
Mohamad Hafid Rohani, Director of Wildlife Protection and Kelantan National Park, said: “After receiving the report, officials immediately went to the site, but the animal had already entered the forest. It could have been an elephant looking for food. ”
He also asked residents to be more careful about the presence of wild elephants in the city.
