King of Kaszubska Street has become a hit with tourists

A chubby street cat has become the main tourist attraction in a Polish city.

The black and white Moggie – reportedly a bit grumpy – has stolen the hearts of tourists visiting Szczecin in northwestern Poland.

Gacek, known as the “King of Kaszubska Street”, lives in a wooden box and is fed by passersby in the medieval town.

His name means “big-eared bat” in Polish.

Despite being a “fantastic handsome and exquisite fellow” according to locals, he has been known to scratch or steal food when in a bad mood.

Close to the border with Germany, Szczecin offers visitors a wealth of fascinating tourist attractions, including the Pomeranian Dukes’ Castle and Kasprowicza Park.

But they pale in comparison to the grumpy Moggie, who has a near-perfect 5-star rating on Google Maps.

Gacek – who even has his own Instagram page – first came to Kaszubska Street 10 years ago and has slowly risen to stardom.

He started hanging out with tourists who fed him treats, causing Gacek to pile on the pounds.

However, the fat cat only became famous in 2020 after local news site wSzczecinie posted videos of him.

Some have expressed concern for his well-being and criticize those who overfeed him, despite people in the area keeping an eye on him.

A sign outside Gacek’s house asks passers-by not to disturb him when he is sleeping, but they can give him a treat when he is gone.

At the moment, the “King of Kaszubska Street” seems content to live in his wooden box in front of a shop.
