The chief executive of Parliamentary Services, Rafael Gonzalez-Monteroexplained that the application will be banned from March 31 on all devices with access to the parliamentary network.

Gonzalez-Montero said that the risks “are not acceptable in the current environment of the Parliament of New Zealand”.
“This decision has been made based on the analysis of our own experts and after discussion with our colleagues in the government and internationally.”, he added.
USA, Canada and United Kingdom they also banned the popular platform of the Chinese group bytedance in government devices for fear that the authorities of China can access the data.
The European Commission also ordered its employees to uninstall the app on their devices.
The first such action was taken in 2020 in India, which banned various Chinese apps after clashes on the disputed border between the two Asian giants.
