Peskov thus commented on the statements by John Kirby, one of the White House spokesmen, who on Monday stated that “any ceasefire that does not address the elimination of Russian forces from Ukraine would effectively ratify the illegal conquest of Russia.”

The United States has declared that it hopes that China will take advantage of the visit of its president, Xi Jinping, to Russia to reiterate calls for a ceasefire, but stressed that the fundamental element for a lasting peace must be the defense and territorial integrity of Ukraine. .
