“Today we have learned that the United Kingdom (…) announced not only the delivery of tanks to Ukraine, but also howitzers with depleted uranium (…). If this happens, Russia will be forced to respond.”stated putin.

“It seems that the West has really decided to fight Russia to the last Ukrainian, not with words, but with deeds”he continued.

British Deputy Defense Minister Annabel Goldi said on Monday night, in response to a question from a British MP, that Britain plans to supply Ukraine with howitzers “with depleted uranium”.

“These munitions are very effective in destroying tanks and modern armored vehicles”he stressed in his written response, explaining that the howitzers are intended for use with Challenger tanks that London will deliver to kyiv.

The Russian Defense Minister, Sergei Shoigu, assured for his part that “Russia knows how to respond.” “We will see what they plan to use,” he warned, considering that “one more step” had been taken in the escalation.

The British nuclear organization Campaign for Nuclear Disarmament condemned the delivery of depleted uranium ammunition and warned in a statement on Tuesday that it would be a “additional environmental and health disaster for those living in the heart of the conflict”.

The use of depleted uranium projectiles is criticized for the risks it would imply for the health of the soldiers who use them and the populations where they impact.
