From the moment that last night the inter-union union announced a new day of mobilization on Tuesday and that the king’s visit was scheduled from Monday to Tuesday, I believe that we would not be serious and would lack a certain amount of common sense if we proposed to his Your Majesty the King and Queen Consort come to make a state visit in the midst of the demonstrations”declared in a press conference after the meeting of leaders of the European Union held in Brussels

He added that since France has “Great friendship, respect and esteem for His Majesty the King and Queen Consort and for the British people”, Macron himself has taken “the initiative this morning to call him (the King) and tell him what the situation was”.

He stressed that “common sense” and “friendship” led France to propose “a delay.”

“We have proposed that at the beginning of summer, depending on our respective agendas, we can jointly set a new state visit that corresponds to the way of welcoming the new king and queen consort and do it in conditions that allow them to take advantage of France, Paris and Bordeaux”said.

He assured that the “hateful thing for the British people” and for France would have been to try to maintain the visit of Carlos III with incidents in the streets.

Macron added that he will attend the coronation ceremony for the new UK monarch.

The visit of King Charles III of the United Kingdom to France has been postponed due to protests against French President Emmanuel Macron’s pension reform, which have led to riots.
