NATO confirms that Finland will be part of the alliance from Tuesday

Finland will become the 31st member of the North Atlantic Treaty Organization (NATO)and its flag will be hoisted at the headquarters of that bloc in Brusselsannounced this Monday the head of the military alliance, Jens Stoltenberg.

“Tomorrow [el martes] we will welcome Finland as the 31st member”Stoltenberg said at a press conference on the eve of a ministerial meeting that will mark the Nordic country’s accession to the transatlantic alliance.

Finland’s accession process, stressed the Norwegian official, has been “the fastest in modern NATO history.”
