He US Supreme Court endorsed this Thursday that a 12-year-old trans girl continue to compete in the women’s team of athletics from his institute, W.V.state that vetoed the access of trans people to these equipments.

Most of the high court judges rejected the request made by the West Virginia attorney general, Patrick Morriseyto apply to the young Becky Pepper-Jackson the law approved in 2021 that prohibits the participation of trans girls in women’s sports teams in schools and institutes.
Only two of the nine judges, Clarene Thomas and Samuel Alitowho drafted the ruling that repealed the federal right to abortion, dissented from the majority opinion and advocated vetoing the minor’s participation in the team.
Pepper Jackson12, sued the state of W.V. by this law shortly after it was approved in 2021 by the Congress local, majority Republican.
The legislation, criticized by defenders of human rightsestablishes that the participation of students in sports teams must respect “Reproductive biology and genetics at birth”.
W.V. It is part of about twenty states of USA governed by Republicans who have banned trans students from women’s teams and have restricted access to gender transition treatments for minors.
The international athletics federation, World Athleticsagreed in March that trans athletes will not be able to compete in the female category in international events.
