Two brothers living in Florida (USA) were accused of fraudulently obtaining $2.5 million from aid programs for the COVID-19funds they used to “enrich themselves and their accomplices”reported this Friday the Federal Prosecutor’s Office for the Southern District of the state.
According to the indictment, from March 2020 to December 2021, Carl Henry Charles, 43 years oldAnd his brother Patrick Charles, 41submitted fraudulent applications for about $5 million to the Small Business Administration (SBA) for the Economic Injury Loan (EIDL) program for businesses.

those businesses “did not exist before the beginning of the pandemic and they had no income or other business activity.”according to the accusation of the prosecution.
As a result of false and fraudulent applications, the SBA disbursed approximately $2.5 million in loans and advances to defendants.
If found guilty, Carl-Charlesbased in Miramar, faces up to 80 years in prison, and Patrick Charlesof Lake Worth, up to 60.
