A Russian soldier was imprisoned in a “Zindan”.

The Russian army imprisons its own deserters in medieval pits with metal bars.

Images shared on Telegram Channel Layouts show a number of men left in cages in the ground.

They claim to have been thrown there by Vladimir Putin’s soldiers before being denied food and water for refusing to fight in Ukraine or because they were heavily intoxicated.

These pits are also similar to the chambers used to hold torture victims in a Russian prison camp in Chechnya in 2000.

Flarit Baitemirov said he had been held captive since March 23

Flarit Baitemirov was one of the soldiers trapped in a 10-foot deep pit called “Zindan,” according to the message on the messaging app.

“I’m being held captive by mine. I’m Russian, I came as a volunteer,” said the 35-year-old.

“I’m asking the Ministry of Defense for help. A criminal case has been started against me. You kept me here for three weeks.”

According to the soldier, he has been in a three meter deep pit since March 23.

In one of the videos, he says that he was put in the pit for drinking alcohol with colleagues, for which he was beaten and injured in the collarbone.

Baitemirov also speaks of rampant corruption in the regiment and the theft of humanitarian aid.

Another shows rainwater dripping into a stone hole where a Russian soldier sleeps.

His left eye socket looks badly injured and his lip is swollen. He shows the dungeon-like conditions and his bed of wooden pallet and nylon.

All his belongings look wet and he only has a raincoat to protect himself.

From the first months of the invasion, Russian soldiers have complained of appalling conditions and “torture pits.”

But it is still unclear where these pits are located and how many men are being held there.
