Russia bans entry to 500 Americans including Barack Obama

Russia responded today to the new package of sanctions imposed by USA due to the war in Ukraine by barring another 500 Americans from entering the country, including former president Barack Obama.

“It’s been a long time Washington should have understood that not a single hostile attack against Russia will be left without a harsh answer”said the Ministry of Foreign Affairs in a statement.

Among those sanctioned are senior officials, congressmen and senators elected in November 2022, as well as heads of companies in the military industry that supply weapons to Ukraine.

The blacklist includes those members of the State security organs that persecute dissidents and gives as an example the participants in the storming the capitol occurred in January 2021.

Experts and analysts from centers that have participated in spreading false news about Russiajournalists and well-known presenters such as James Kimmel or Stephen Colbert.

Foreign Affairs considers that the anti-Russian sanctions seek to cause the greatest possible damage to Russiasince they concern both civil servants and ordinary citizens, so Moscow it will continue to apply the principle of reciprocity in the event of sanctions or discriminatory steps against its nationals.

The United States imposed this Friday Moscow a new battery of sanctions for the Russian military campaign in Ukraine that affects some 300 entities, people, ships and planes that are collaborating with Russia in his offensive.

The Secretary of State, Anthony Blinkenexplained in a statement that these sanctions, announced in the framework of the summit of the G7 in hiroshima (Japan), are aimed at the energy, defense, mining and technological sectors; and to people who are helping Russia increase its energy production and capacity.

To the 200 sanctions reported by the State Department are added others announced by the Treasury Department against another 104 companies and 22 individuals, located in more than 20 countries or jurisdictions.
