Wagner chief announces the capture of the Ukrainian city of Bakhmut

The boss of the wagner group, Yevgeny Prigozhinannounced the seizure of the Ukrainian city of bakhmutbesieged for 10 months by its paramilitary units.

“Today at noon the last redoubt of the neighborhood was taken in the city of Bakhmut. Samolioth (Plane)”he stated with a Russian flag in his hands in a video posted on his Telegram account, accompanied by several fighters from Wagner.

Prigozhin noted that “the operation for the taking of Bakhmut, ‘the meat grinder of bakhmut‘, hard 224 days”.

“It began on October 8, 2022 to give the battered Russian Army a chance to recover.”he added.

It was a bloody campaign that also revealed deep discrepancies between the head of Wagner and the Russian Ministry of Defense, which he repeatedly accused of insufficient supplies of weapons and ammunition and of allowing regular units to flee positions taken by the paramilitary group.
