“Today, what we already know with the latest statements is that we are also facing a illegal governmentGutierrez said at the House of Representativeswhere he went to denounce Petro before the Commission of accusations for crimes related to illegal campaign financing.

last night the Weekly magazine published a series of audio messages sent by the former ambassador to Laura Sarabiaformer Chief of Staff of Petro, to express his disagreement with the delay in Petro in receiving it in the middle of the scandal of the telephone interceptions of a babysitter.

Benedetti also threatened to reveal secrets of the financing of the Petro’s presidential campaignwho assured last night that she did not receive money from drug trafficking and that the Government has not done nothing illegal.

According to Petro said on his Twitter account, in his government “Neither have blackmail been accepted regarding public offices or contracts, nor have money been received in the campaign from people linked to drug trafficking, much less have figures such as 15,000 million pesos (about $3.5 million) outside of our accounting.

For this reason, Gutiérrez, a right-wing candidate who came third in the first round of elections on May 29 last year, asked Petro to take responsibility and resign because “The last thing that is happening has paralyzed the country and it is not only a paralysis, it is a setback of many decades in institutional terms.”

PETRO’S ANSWER

Faced with these accusations, which are added to those already made by the ex-wife of the president’s eldest son, Nicolás Petro, that he received money from drug trafficking to finance the campaign, although it never reached his coffers, Petro has assured that it is a campaign against of the government.

From the audios and interviews of Armando Benedetti I draw two conclusions: 1. Laura has received enormous pressure that she was unaware of. He must have suffered and suffers a lot. 2 Benedetti is wrong when thinking that Laura configured the cabinet, I always did and I dohe assured in a series of tweets published today.

Furthermore, he insisted that Benedetti helped get donations for his campaign, but he specified that “There were no irregularities.”

“It’s true, whenever someone asked to donate or getting donors was sent to the management, where the filters were always done according to the law”Petro said.

He National Electoral Council (CNE) quoted Benedetti and Sarabia to give explanations about the audios and the accusations of irregular financing of the campaign on June 13, according to local media reports.
