Smoke from hundreds of fires that have spread across Canada has engulfed several cities in the United States in recent days. In New York, the Statue of Liberty and the skyscrapers of Manhattan have been shrouded in thick orange-brown fog since Wednesday. The US government has urged its fellow citizens whose health is fragile to “take precautions” in the face of a sharp deterioration in air quality.
1. On the streets of New York, residents are wearing masks, the remnants of Covid, to protect themselves from this orange haze.
2. The horizon is completely blurred and the skyscrapers in the distance are barely visible.
3. In midtown Manhattan, the air is almost unbreathable.
4. The symbol of New York, the Statue of Liberty is difficult to distinguish in the orange haze
5. Visibility was so poor that the US Civil Aviation Agency slowed air traffic and even landed some planes in the area.
6. Warning messages have been posted in several roadside areas of the city.
7. Air quality warnings were issued from Chicago in the north to Atlanta in the south, where Canadian smoke also headed.
