At least 15 people died this Thursday in Canada when a truck crashed into a minibus dedicated to transporting people with disabilities, according to local media reports.
The accident occurred on the highway Trans-Canadawhich connects the extreme east of the country with the coast of Peacefulin the vicinity of the town of Carberryin the West.

Although the authorities have not yet offered official figures, sources consulted by the CTV television network said that at least 15 people died in the accident.
Images broadcast by local television channels show the charred remains of a minibus on the side of the highway as well as a large-tonnage truck with the front of the engine completely destroyed.
A witness who arrived at the accident area shortly after the impact told CTV that the scene is “awful” and “there is nothing left of the vehicle”.
Another witness said thatpeople were trying to save themselves and medical personnel and firefighters were helping them out. It’s hard to describe but it was horrible”.

In a statement, the Mounted Police of Canada noted that it has deployed all available units in the western part of the province of Manitobawhere the accident occurred.
Meanwhile, in the cities of winnipeg and reginahospitals were placed in “code orange”, which is activated when an incident occurs with a very high number of victims.
