Zelensky calls for “true peace” after meeting with the African delegation

President ukrainian, Volodymyr Zelenskyrequested this Friday the Russian withdrawal to achieve a “true and just peace” after meeting in kyiv with a delegation of seven African leaders headed by the president of South Africa, Cyril Ramaphosa.

It is obvious that the cessation of russian terror and the withdrawal of all its people from the territory of Ukraine is what can stop this war”, he wrote on his Telegram channel.

Ukraine and the world do not need to choose between frozen conflicts or hot wars. what they need is peace”, he continued and pointed out that with the delegation of African leaders he has discussed the way to achieve “a true and just peacewithout any Russian blackmail or deceit”.

Zelensky further stressed that “all the nations of the world deserve to live free, without the imposition of the will of others through military and political means”, but that no country is safe while Russia tries to turn aggression and the annexation of foreign territories into the “global norm”.

Before meeting with the Ukrainian president, the African delegation paid tribute to the Ukrainian victims of the Russian occupation in the town of Bucha, near kyivin the first official act of his trip to Ukraine to explore possibilities of peace.

De Bucha’s delegation – which includes the leaders of South Africa, Senegal, Egypt, Uganda, Zambia, Congo and Comoros- scrolled up kyivwhere he and a representative of the Ukrainian Ministry of Defense visited another war memorial, before meeting with Zelensky.

They will then leave for Russiawhere they will be received by the president of the country, Vladimir Putinas part of an initiative Ramaphosawhich aims to bring the Russians and Ukrainians closer to a negotiated solution to the war.
