A gold ring that traveled miles after being lost on a beach day returns to its owner 51 years later

In life you never know when you might find yourself with an object that you thought was completely lost. And if not, tell Jim Keelen (68), from New Jersey (USA), who has recovered his high school class’s gold ring lost over 50 years ago. Keelen was left without the jewel when he was enjoying a weekend at the beach and surf in the summer of 1972. But when he was already considered lost, luck turned to ally with him five decades later.

After 51 years since then, a young man who just graduated from high school has found the ring lost by Keelen. Anthony DiMaria-Sadorski “miraculously” found the lost memento near his family’s home in the Point Pleasant area during a hike in April.

“We did what little kids do and I lost my ring that weekend”Keelen told NJ Patch. “I thought that if he got lost on the beach it was a lost thing. I considered that she was gone all these years ”.

Half a century later, DiMaria-Sadorski, 21, was out for a walk on a spring afternoon and stumbled upon the piece of jewelry. “There is a place near my house by a stream where the sunset looks amazing”counted The New York Post. “I was walking home and the sun’s rays bounced off something I didn’t know what it was, so that’s what caught my attention. She was by the side of the road”said.

The ring was near the mouth of the creek and he guessed the jewels came in with the tide. But, how did he get 26 miles inland from the beach? Keelen believes that Hurricane Sandy, which occurred 10 years ago, brought him to the site.

DiMaria-Sadorski picked up the ring and she put it on her desk, and “forgot about it” until she was cleaning her room last week. “I thought, oh my gosh, I have to post this.”said.

DiMaria-Sadorski saw the initials inside the ring and posted her find on Facebook on June 8.

In search of the owner of the ring

“Within hours”, the post was shared about “30-35″ timesespecially with the Watchung Hills Regional High School alumni group.

One of the group members approached Keelen, who verified that the ring was his and that it had been missing for 51 years.

“I sent you a message [a Keelen] on Facebook and gave me his address. and i sent it to him [el anillo] him and received it on mondayDiMaria-Sadorski said.

The 21-year-old, who graduated last month from Georgian Court University in Lakewood, NJ, doesn’t have a class ring.

Keelen reportedly he took his salvaged but dented treasure to a jeweler to polish the stone and change its size.

DiMaria-Sadorski said the idea of keeping or selling the ring never crossed her mind. “Treat the others as you want the others treat you”said.
