5.3 magnitude earthquake leaves one injured in Ecuador

A earthquake of magnitude 5.3 shook in the early hours of this Sunday the northeast of Ecuador and left one injured, according to the first reports from the authorities.

The tremor had its epicenter in the municipality of hadin the province of Napoand was felt in 20 municipalities and cities including the capital, Quitoaccording to Risk Management Secretariat.

In Archidonaa town about 10 km from Tena, one person suffered injuries “due to falling glass from a door”, according to the state entity.

The Secretariat does not report so far more victims or significant damage to the infrastructure.

In March of this year, 14 people were killed by a magnitude 6.5 tremor in southwestern Ecuador and one more in his neighbor Peru.
