The Colombian Government and the ELN prepare the protocols on what was agreed in the dialogues

The negotiating delegations of the Colombian government and the guerrilla National Liberation Army (ELN) They reported this Friday that two commissions are preparing the protocols referring to the bilateral ceasefire agreed in June and the participation of society in the peace process.

Since June 20, it has been in session at Havana a commission in charge of drafting the protocols in relation to the agreement of bilateral ceasefirenational and temporary signed on June 9 in Cubaas reported by both parties.

The document issued in Havana added that another commission is preparing Bogota “the composition of the National Participation Committee, the body in charge of energizing the design of society’s participation in the peace process”.

These commissions will finish their work on next July 6the delegations announced.

Both issues were addressed during the third cycle of peace negotiations between the Colombian government and the THE N who sat in Cuba.

Said cycle began on May 2 and ended on June 9 in the Cuban capital with the signing of a ceasefire “national”, “bilateral” and “temporary” which, after an adjustment period, will in principle last 180 days from August 3.

The ceasefire, explained the parties, contemplates a first phase of enlistment, until July 6, in which the order will be given to stop the offensives and that It will become official on August 3.

This is the longest ceasefire agreed to date between the Government of Colombia and the THE N.

Venezuela will host the next round of negotiations between the THE N and the Government of Colombiafrom August 14 to September 4.
