Venezuela: Ministry of Defense continues investigation into crash of military plane

The Ministry of Defense of Venezuela reported this Monday that it will maintain the investigations to “determine more precisely” all the factors that influenced the incident of a military plane in the state of Miranda (center), in which an official of the Bolivarian National Armed Force (FANB).

“The Air Accident Investigation Board of the institution continues to carry out the rigorous procedures, in order to determine with greater precision all the factors that could have influenced the unfortunate accident”, indicated the Ministry of Defence it’s a statement.

He explained that the first investigations have shown that a bird entered the right engine as the possible cause of the plane’s fall to the ground, which caused a fire.

“Even when the crew applied the corresponding emergency procedures, canceling the mission and heading to the air base of origin, the fire was not extinguished and the aircraft became out of control, so the pilots, applying the established protocol, carried out the ejection”, he added.

Likewise, it said that the autopsy revealed the cause of death of the colonel and pilot of the plane Paulino Millan Sabinomechanical asphyxia “due to intrinsic compression of the neck, possibly caused by the same lines of the parachute”.

On Sunday, the Ministry of the Interior and Justice has already assured that the accident of the military plane was caused by a bird that entered the engine system while it was flying, for which reason the investigation continues is unknown.
