Elections Spain 2023: Government of Bolivia sees retreat from the “extreme right” after elections

He Bolivian executive see a reversal of the “extreme right” in Spain despite the victory of the conservative People’s Party (PP) in the Spanish elections on Sunday and is waiting for the Spanish Socialist Worker’s Party (PSOE), of the acting President of the Government, Pedro Sanchezunder a new government.

The right has won in terms of voting, but the extreme right, which is the Vox party, (…) has regressed compared to the previous election“, said Monday the presidential spokesman for bolivian, George Richterin statements to the media.

Richter considered that Voxan organization to which he pointed out that he was “swarming“previous years in the affairs of Bolivia,”has failed to root itself in trustworthiness” in Spain.

We always have the expectation that this right (like Vox) does not achieve important results (…) we see that with some optimism”, asserted the presidential spokesman.

Richter questioned that some conservative sectors in Bolivia have allowed themselves to be influenced by Vox in times of the political and social crisis of 2019, after the frustrated elections of that year and the resignation of the then president. Evo Morales (2006-2019).

The governor movement to socialism (MAS) assures that the events of 2019 were a “coup” against Morales while the opposition maintains that the crisis was due to electoral fraud.

During the government of the interim president jeanine anez (2019-2020) there were several meetings with Vox representatives who even came to the country.

In December 2019, the Government of Áñez declared a person “non grata” to two Spanish diplomats in Peaceto which Spain responded with the expulsion of three members of the Bolivian diplomatic and consular staff accredited in the European country.

In the opinion of Richter, the President of the Government in office, Pedro Sanchezhas the possibility of forming a government” and defeat his opponent Alberto Núñez Feijóoof the People’s Party (PP).

the conservative PP won the general elections in Spain by achieving 136 seats, although without a sufficient majority to govern by not reaching the 176 necessary to constitute a new Government.

In second place was Spanish Socialist Worker’s Party (PSOE), which obtained 122; followed by the far-right formation Vox, 33, and the left-wing coalition Add31.

With these results, the left sees it as possible to govern, but this will depend on the final conformation of the coalitions.

Last year, in the framework of the General Assembly of the United Nations (UN) in NYthe presidents of Bolivia, Luis Arceand the Spanish Government, Pedro Sánchez, agreed to strengthen bilateral relations and commercial ties.
