“I broke a chair on his head”: an Argentine priest confronted a thief who tried to rob a church in Salta

The house of God is respected! The priest, called Juan Eduardo Jotayan he got up at 3:00 am when he realized that a young man of approximately 25 years of age had infiltrated the rectory.

“It was around 3 in the morning and I was in my bedroom almost asleep watching the news. At one point I heard a noise at the front door of the house. that has the bars and then a noise at the door. I got up immediately because It is the fourth time that they enter to rob me and one already lives alarmed”, Jotayan told The Tribune.

Immediately, the priest put on his sandals and like a ‘secret agent’ moved stealthily towards the door of his room. He went down the hall until he reached the dining room and suddenly turned on the light, coming face to face with the thief inside the house.

“The boy will have been about 25 years old, he had a cap and a hood. He surely was very drugged. We clung to clean blows, it was a tremendous thing”the priest said.

Between the bare-knuckle fight, Jotayan he received several blows to the face and ribs, but managed to defend himself with an unusual weapon: a chair. “At that moment I took the opportunity to run into the room and look for a compressed air rifle that belonged to my military brother and who has already passed away. I pointed at him and yelled at him: ‘If you don’t get out of here, I’ll shoot you through the head’.
