With more than 115 meters long and 3,200 tons in weight, the imposing Ship of the Peruvian Navy (BAP) Union set sail on June 17 from Callao seeking to match a national feat whose last precedent dates back more than a century and a half.

It was in 1856 when the Amazonas Frigate circumnavigated the globe on a two-year voyage. Since then, the Peruvian Navy dreamed of repeating this feat, until finally this trip arrived, which is expected to last about 10 and a half months, in which its 249 crew members will visit 22 ports in 16 countries.

He is now en route to Guam, where he hopes to arrive on August 16, after visiting Tahiti.

That, precisely, is one of the two essential missions of the BAP Union: to be a cultural ambassador of our country in each port. The other is just as impressive, being a naval school in real time, as can be confirmed by the nearly 100 third-year cadets who are traveling as a crew and who, without a doubt, are obtaining an unparalleled experience.
