Maduro assures that in Venezuela there is a “powerful” consensus against US sanctions.

The president of Venezuela, Nicolas Maduroassured this Monday that there is a consensus in the country “powerful” against international economic sanctions, especially those imposed by USAafter, in recent days, businessmen and politicians called for the lifting of these restrictions.

If there is a consensus today Venezuela is the consensus of rejection and repudiation of the sanctions of the USAbecause they are sanctions against an entire country, such a powerful and great consensus had never been achieved before”, said the president during his weekly television program.

He reiterated that the South American nation “you have the right to an economic life free of sanctions” and that the so-called Bolivarian revolution that he leads must be able to carve out its “own way” with their “own decisions”.

The president also welcomed the recent appointment of Adam Celis as the new president of Fedecámaras, the largest employers’ association in the country, and supported the request of the business union to put an end to the unilateral coercive measures.

I salute this declaration of fedecámaras and I tell the sensible sectors of the country, beyond partisan or ideological colors, that we unite all the efforts of Venezuela to demand that the sanctions be lifted”, he continued.

Maduro announced that he hopes to meet with Celis “just take office” for “to be able to talk about the plans for the economic development of the country”.

According to the Government, countries like the United States, Canada, Panama and nations of the European Union (EU) have imposed more than 900 sanctions on Venezuela since 2015, most of them in a personal capacity against officials accused of harming democracy.
