Who is who in the scandal of the son of Gustavo Petro?

The latest corruption scandal Colombia has its own name, that of Nicholas Petro Burgosand therefore that of his father, the president Gustavo Petrobut in the two days of hearings held in the bunker of the Prosecutor’s Office, where the firstborn has been detained since last Saturday, many other names have been mentioned.

1. DAYSURIS VASQUEZ

It all started with her last March when she revealed in an interview with Semana magazine the “graft” of his ex-partner in managing funds for his father’s campaign. And the reasons for these revelations were born of jealousy, since Petro Burgos is expecting a baby from one of her friends, Laura Ojeda.

2. LAURA OJEDA

Everything went up in the air when Nicholas began a sentimental relationship with Laura, his wife’s friend, who is now pregnant eight months, anddays” threatened that “knew things” of the presidential campaign of Petro.

3. THE “MARLBORO MAN”

It gets its name from the vast fortune he amassed trading bootleg liquor and cigarettes. He was elected senator in 1994, the same year that the authorities of USA. They affirmed that he was part of a criminal structure dedicated to money laundering.

He was captured in 2002 and extradited to USA a year later, where he was sentenced to 25 years in prison for drug trafficking and was released in 2021, before serving the entire sentence imposed by a judge of the federal district of columbia.

4. THE SON OF THE “TURK”

Alfonso del Cristo Hilsaca Eljaudeknown as “Turkish” hilsacais another controversial businessman who appears on the scene because his son Gabriel could have given money to Nicolás Petro.

He “Turkish” was captured in 2009 when he was linked to a quadruple murder in Cartagena, but he was released after eight months for lack of evidence. 6. ARMANDO BENEDETTI

He was Petro’s right-hand man in the electoral campaign, and when he became President he appointed him ambassador to Venezuela. This Thursday the Prosecutor’s Office showed a document where many other names appear, from the president’s wife, Veronica Alcocer, to ex-ministers like alfonso prada (who was the spokesman for the campaign and later Minister of the Interior) or Maria Isabel Urrutia (Olympic medalist in weightlifting and former Minister of Sports).
