A plane suffers an accident without victims in Portugal when fighting a fire along the border

A plane suffered this Friday a accident when replenishing water in a reservoir in the middle of fighting a fire in the Portuguese municipality of white castlenext to the Spanish border, although the pilot was unharmed, according to Civil Protection.

The fire, declared in the area of Santo Andre das Tojeirasnear the border with the Spanish province of Cáceres, broke out in the early afternoon today and is still active, with nearly 500 firefighters on the ground.

During the tasks to put out the flames, an amphibious plane crashed in the reservoir of pracana but it only caused material damage.

More than 70 municipalities in the north and center of Portugal, as well as some in the south, are in maximum danger of fire this Friday due to high temperatures, according to the Portuguese Institute of the Sea and the Atmosphere (IPMA).
