War in Ukraine: The mayor of Moscow said that the military shot down a drone aimed at the capital

This is not the first such attack. Moscow Mayor Sergei Sobyanin said this Sunday morning that a drone aimed at the Russian capital was shot down by air defense forces after several similar attacks.

“Today, at about 11 o’clock, a drone attempted to break through towards Moscow. It was destroyed on approach by air defense forces,” the mayor said in Telegram.

30 missiles shot down in Ukraine

For its part, the Ukrainian Air Force said it shot down 30 out of 40 cruise missiles and all Shahed drones sent by Russia in several attacks on Saturday night into Sunday.

“30 cruise missiles and 27 drones were destroyed,” Telegram said, adding that Russia also used three Kinzhal hypersonic missiles, without specifying whether they were destroyed or not. “In total, the enemy used 70 air assets in several waves of strikes,” especially in the Khmelnitsky region, hundreds of kilometers from the front line, but where there is a large Ukrainian air base.

The head of the regional administration, Sergei Tyurin, indicated that the attack, in particular, reached a warehouse for corn waste, causing a fire that destroyed the building and affected more than 1,400 m² before it was extinguished. One employee was injured in the fire.
