The Colombian government and the ELN guerrilla open the fourth cycle of talks in Caracas

The peace delegations of the Government Colombian and the guerrilla of the National Liberation Army (THE N) opened this Monday in Caracas their fourth cycle of negotiations, in which they hope to develop recently signed agreements, including the 180-day ceasefire that came into force on August 3.

During the opening ceremony, the chief negotiator of the THE NPaul Beltran”, he reiterated that there “a conviction to achieve a political solution to the conflict” after 70 years of confrontation, and ratified the willingness of the guerrillas to “continue developing this peace process.”

He pointed out that this negotiation “he has always had opponents”, without mentioning anyone, but, although he said that some “opponents of the peace process persist in Colombiathese enemies “are fewer and fewer.”

Likewise, he considered that the dialogue table gave a “quality leap” after approving and subsequently installing a National Participation Committee (PNC) to integrate civil society in the dialogues, and with the declaration of ceasefire, the longest agreed between the parties.
