Ukraine: Zelensky in Sweden will meet with the Prime Minister and the royal family

This is a very strategic visit. This was stated by the President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelensky. Xex-Twitter that he arrived this Saturday in Sweden to hold “negotiations” with Prime Minister Ulf Kristersson and the royal family, as well as representatives of political parties.

“Elena and I came to Sweden,” said the leader, accompanied by his wife. He wrote that he would meet with the head of government and the royal family, and that his “negotiations” would cover the following topics: “partnership, defense cooperation, EU integration and common Euro-Atlantic security.” Volodymyr Zelenskyy also thanked “all the Swedes who support Ukraine.”

This visit will take place almost a year and a half after the start of the Russian invasion of Ukraine and at a time when Sweden is about to join NATO. As well as its neighbor Finland. Shortly after the outbreak of hostilities in February 2022, Sweden abandoned its doctrine of non-delivery of weapons to warring countries and supplied Kyiv with thousands of anti-tank weapons.

Moscow, for its part, assessed that Sweden’s accession to NATO would have “negative consequences” for the security of Russia, which intended to take “planned and planned” measures in response.

And Putin enters the field

For his part, Vladimir Putin also went to the field. The Russian president met with the generals in charge of the Russian military operation in Ukraine during a meeting in Rostov-on-Don, in southern Russia, the Kremlin said on Saturday morning. Authorities did not say when the meeting took place, but footage released by state media suggests it took place at night.

The meeting took place on Friday as the United States gave Denmark and the Netherlands the go-ahead to send American F-16 fighter jets to Ukraine. “The head of state heard reports from Chief of the General Staff of the Armed Forces Valery Gerasimov, sector commanders and other officials,” the Kremlin said in a statement.
