Belarus denounces violation of its airspace by a Polish military helicopter

A military helicopter Poland violated the airspace of Belarusian in the Berestovitsk district of the Grodno region, the Belarusian State Border Guard Service denounced in a statement.

“A Polish military helicopter Mi-24 crossed the state border at a very low altitude, entered 1,200 meters into the territory of belarus and then came back”, the entity pointed out on Telegram.

According to the Service State Border Guard of belarus“the Polish side was informed of this incident”.

After the event, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs Belarusian summoned the temporary charge d’affaires of Poland in belarus, Wojciech Filimonowicz.

“The Polish side was asked for the corresponding explanations and to carry out an investigation exhaustive of the incident”, Belarusian diplomacy said in a statement, demanding that Poland inform Belarus of the results of its investigation.

minsk highlighted the inadmissibility of the violation of its state border and sued “strongly” to warsaw “take measures to exclude incident of this type in the future”.

Just a month ago, it announced the violation of its airspace by two Belarusian military helicopters, on which occasion it expressed “strong protest” and urged belarus to explain “in detail and immediately the incident.”

These incidents take place in the midst of border tensions between the two countries, aggravated in recent weeks after the installation of a contingent of Russian mercenaries from the wagner group on Belarusian territory, which Warsaw sees as a threat.
