North Korea fires cruise missiles into the Yellow Sea

North Korea today launched several cruise missiles into the Yellow Sea, according to the Army of South Koreatwo days after Seoul and Washington concluded extensive joint exercises.

The launch took place around 4:00 a.m. this Saturday local time (19:00 GMT on Friday), according to the Joint Military Command (JCS) of South Koreawhich did not give more details for the moment about the last weapons test of Pyongyang.

“We will maintain our monitoring and vigilance while continuing our fully prepared posture in collaboration with the United States”pointed out the JCS it’s a statement.

South Korea and USA last Thursday they concluded their Ulchi Freedom Shield (UFS) joint exercises, which the North considers a rehearsal for an invasion of its territory and which, according to threats from the kim jong uncould end up bringing about a “thermonuclear war”.

In response to them, North Korea announced on Thursday the holding of a military command post exercise that was supervised by the leader and that included the simulation of the seizure of South Korean territory.

One day before, Pyongyang launched two short-range ballistic missiles (SRBMs) into the Sea of ​​Japan, hours after Washington mobilized a B-1 strategic bomber to take part in UFS.

After the failure of the denuclearization dialogue between Washington and Pyongyang in 2019, the peninsula has again become the scene of a persistent military escalation, with the Kim Jong-un regime repeatedly testing missiles and the allies carrying out large war exercises and deploying regularly strategic Pentagon assets.

Also, last March Pyongyang announced that it had fired strategic cruise missiles equipped with a warhead that simulated a nuclear charge. The “Hwasal-1” and “Hwasal-2” type missiles hit the targets set in the Sea of ​​Japan (called the East Sea in the two Koreas), according to the regime.
