Maduro asks the Government of China for support so that Venezuela enters the BRICS

The president of Venezuela, Nicolas Maduroasked this Saturday for support from China for the Caribbean country to be incorporated into the group of emerging economies BRICS (Brazil, Russia, India, China and South Africa), which he classified as “the great engine of hope for a different world”.

Venezuela is one of the 23 countries that has formally expressed its interest in joining the BRICS, which, during a summit held last month, agreed to expand the bloc with the entry of Argentina, Saudi Arabia, Egypt, Ethiopia, United Arab Emirates and Iran.

In this regard, the Venezuelan president recalled the contributions that the Caribbean nation could make to the bloc as it is the country with the largest oil reserve in the world, as well as other important minerals.

There would be three lines of work: strengthening the China-Latin America and the Caribbean relationship with Celac (Community of Latin American and Caribbean States, strengthen and expand the defense group of United Nations Charter for a refoundation of the UN and the entry of Venezuela into the BRICS to continue strengthening the process of birth of a new world“, said.

Maduro is visiting China, where he arrived on Friday night for a six-day official stay for which the agenda has not been released, but during which it is assumed that he will meet with the Chinese president.

Maduro’s arrival was preceded by that of the executive vice president of the Latin American country, Delcy Rodriguezwho met last Thursday with the Chinese Foreign Minister, Wang Yito review bilateral issues and promote economic and commercial agreements between both nations.
