Kim Jong-un will soon arrive in Russia at the invitation of Vladimir Putin, according to the Kremlin

The leader of North Korea, Kim Jong-unwill arrive shortly in Russia on an official visit invited by the head of the Kremlin, Vladimir Putin, as reported today by the Russian Presidency. Putin traveled this morning to Vladivostok, the capital of the Russian Far East and the likely venue for talks with Kim.

Kremlin spokesman Dmitri Peskovruled out such meetings during the Eastern Economic Forum, so the meeting should take place when it ends on Wednesday.

As South Korean government sources informed the Yonhap agency, the North Korean leader’s train left Pyongyang on Monday, supposedly heading to Russian territory.

“We have been preparing for a long time for the visit of Kim Jong-un“, assured a source from the Government of a Russian region in the Far East to Russian agencies.

It is unknown when Kim could arrive in Vladivostok, which is about 700 kilometers from the North Korean capital.

The last time Kim traveled to that same city to meet with Putin, in April 2019, he also traveled on his special armored train, which took around 20 hours to reach the port bathed by the Pacific Ocean.

Last week “The New York Times” and other Anglo-Saxon media reported that Kim would meet with Putin to discuss military-technical cooperation with an eye on the war in Ukraine.

According to the newspaper, Putin would like North Korea to sell ammunition, artillery and anti-tank missiles to Russia, which Moscow could use in Ukraine, while Pyongyang would be seeking advanced technology for the manufacture of satellites and nuclear-powered submarines, as well as food aid.

This will be Kim’s first trip abroad since 2019, since the outbreak of the covid-19 pandemic led the communist regime to close its borders firmly at the beginning of 2020 and just this summer the hermetic Asian country has returned to allow, under strict protocols, the entry of people from abroad.

Putin will also meet this week in Vladivostok with Zhang Guoqing, the vice premier of China, the North Korean regime’s main ally.
