Jair Bolsonaro is admitted to Sao Paulo for two operations

A convoy of cars with dark windows entered the Vila Nova Star hospitalin a wealthy neighborhood of the capital of São Paulo, around 2:30 p.m. local time (5:30 p.m. GMT) on Monday, AFP reported.

Shortly before, the hospital had confirmed to journalists the place where Bolsonaro would arrive to be admitted.

“With my love (Bolsonaro). We arrived to Sao Paulo. Pray for the surgical procedure that will be performed tomorrow“, the former first lady had written shortly before Michelle Bolsonaro on her Instagram stories, along with a smiling photo of her and her husband.

The advisor to the former president, Fabio Wajngartenconfirmed to AFP that Bolsonaro will undergo two surgeries, both related to the 2018 attack, which caused various consequences in his digestive system, such as intestinal obstructions, hernias and tissue adhesions.

Bolsonaro was hospitalized for two days in the same hospital at the end of last August to undergo “routine check up” linked to those problems.

Outside the hospital, this Monday, two detractors of the former president awaited his arrival, waving banners calling for his imprisonment, AFP noted.

“Bolsonaro, you are a coward, get out of that hospital and assume the crimes you committed”one of the women shouted outside the medical center.

After leaving power in December 2022, Bolsonaro faces various investigations by the justice system and the federal police, in addition to having been declared ineligible for eight years in June for having misinformed about the electoral system.

Both the former president and his wife, Michelle, are the target of an investigation for alleged diversions of jewelry and other official gifts received during his administration (2019-2022).
