Flood in Libya: France will send a field hospital

This is expected to happen within “24 to 48 hours.” France will send a field hospital to Libya to help people affected by floods in the country’s east, the Elysee Palace announced on Tuesday.

“The President of the Republic decided to send ambulance teams from civil security and the field hospital,” that is, about “fifty civilian and military personnel who can provide assistance to 500 people per day,” the presidency indicated.

At least 2,000 people have died and thousands are missing as severe flooding hit Libya following Hurricane Daniel, according to local authorities cited by Reuters. The death toll is much higher than what was announced on Monday evening, with 150 deaths reported.
