In a brief message released on social media, the president once again reiterated that a limit had been exceeded and that “not everything goes” when it comes to criticizing.

“Yesterday morning an extreme right-wing group threw leaflets in front of my parents’ house in Tip Sands. In addition to the personal threats from these groups that are increasingly common, the fact that they do this to my family goes beyond all limits. Not everything OK“Boric warned.

The 50th anniversary of the coup d’état by the leadership of the Chilean Army, against the democratic socialist government Salvador Allendeworsened the intense climate of political polarization and social division that shakes Pepper.

Both the traditional and the ultra-derecha refused to sign the document proposing an explicit condemnation of the coup, in addition to the call to the unit and the reconciliation planned by the president, and boycotted the official acts, in which state officials and activists participated of the human rights local and international artists and families of more than a thousand missing detainees, whose fate is unknown half a century later.

The far right went a step further and even justified the coup, blaming it on itself Allende and his social policies, he described it as inevitable and avoided explicit condemnation of the crimes committed during the dictatorial repression.

Chile is also immersed in a controversial process to replace its current Constitutionwritten in 1980 by the dictatorship and slightly altered in democracy, a process that after the rejection of the progressive project submitted to a referendum on September 4, 2022, now leads a constituency in which the absolute majority corresponds to the right and the extreme right.

In recent days, several social actors have denounced “regressive measures” which are introducing, through changes to the text – which will be voted on in December -, both currents under the protection of their majority, and which represent setbacks in terms of rights and the end of some already acquired.
