Lula tells Zelensky he will talk to whoever is necessary to find peace in Ukraine

President Lula has met President Putin numerous times in the past. If the conditions are met, if there is such a possibility, I have no doubt that they will be found.“, said the chancellor when asked if Lula would meet with the Russian president after his meeting with Zelensky.

The meeting between the progressive leader and the Ukrainian president was the first face-to-face meeting between the two leaders since the start of the war, although they had already spoken in March via videoconference.

Lula met with Zelensky last May at G7 Summit held in the Japanese city of Hiroshima and although they had agreed to meet in person, the meeting did not take place due to alleged “scheduling problems”.

The Brazilian president, who took power on January 1, has since suggested some initiatives to achieve peace after the Russian invasion of Ukrainewhich were not well received either by the Western powers or by Zelensky himself.

According to Lula, a group of countries should be created to promote dialogue between Ukraine and Russiawhich was not accepted, among others, by U.SO European Union (EU) and Zelensky, who consider that the invading country and the attacked country would be placed on an equal footing.
