NATO begins annual nuclear maneuvers with 60 aircraft in southern Europe

O NATO its annual nuclear exercise begins this Monday Constant noonlong-planned, with up to 60 aircraft taking part in training flights over southern Europe.

The maneuvers will feature the participation of 13 allied countries and a mix of different types of aircraft, including advanced fighters and American bombers B-52s that will fly from U.S.

Fighter planes capable of carrying nuclear warheads take part in the exercise, but no actual bombs are used during the maneuvers.

The strategic concept of NATO makes it clear that “the fundamental purpose of the nuclear capability of the NATO is to preserve peace, prevent coercion and deter aggression“, and emphasizes that “As long as nuclear weapons exist, the NATO will continue to be a nuclear alliance”.

The exercise will last until October 26th.
