Bullrich recognizes his defeat in the Argentine elections: “We will never be accomplices to populism”

The Argentine presidential candidate for the conservative coalition Together for Change Patricia Bullrichacknowledged his defeat in the elections held this Sunday, in which he obtained just 23.85% of the votes, thus leaving him out of the second round between the governing party Sergio Massa and the libertarian Javier Milei.

The one who was Minister of Security during the Government of Mauricio Macri (2015-2019) appeared before her supporters with almost 92% of the tables scrutinized, accompanied by the former president and other figures from the center-right coalition, among whom was she rival in the August primaries, the mayor of Buenos Aires, Horacio Rodríguez Larreta.

“Populism has impoverished the country and I am not the one who will facilitate the return to power of someone who was part of the worst government in the recent history of Argentina”, proclaimed Bullrich in reference to the winning candidate in the first round, the Peronist Sergio Massa, although avoided making explicit his support for Milei in the second round, which will be held on November 19th.

The candidate, who lost 1.8 million votes compared to the result obtained by Juntos pela Change in the August primaries, guaranteed that “the values ​​(of the coalition) are not left adrift, nor are they sold or bought”. , they won’t even negotiate.”

“We will never be accomplices to populism and the mafias that destroyed this country”, he concluded amidst timid shouts of support and applause from supporters who headed to the opposition bunker.

Bullrich acknowledged that his political space “did not achieve the objectives he intended” for these elections, but confirmed that “the values ​​of his cause” remain “strong” despite his defeat today.

“The values ​​of transparency and combating corruption are the values ​​we carry within us. Perhaps these values ​​have fallen asleep today, but we will awaken them every day of our fight for a productive and poverty-free Argentina,” he stated.

Regarding his future as leader of the Argentine center-right, which was very weakened after this result, Bullrich admitted that “others will be the ones who advance” so that Together for Change regains power in Argentina.
