Mourners gathered for the funeral of a British woman and her two daughters killed by Hamas in southern Israel.
Lianne Sharabi, from Bristol, and her teenage daughters Noiya Sharabi and Yahel Sharabi were finally buried this afternoon at a joint funeral in the township of Kfar Harif.
Family and friends said goodbye to the three and watched as they were buried next to each other.
Lianne and her youngest daughter Yahel, 13, were both shot dead in their home on Kibbutz Be’eri on October 7, as militants armed with AK-47s infiltrated kibbutz after kibbutz, indiscriminately killing civilians.
There was hope that her second daughter, Noiya, 16, was alive after being taken hostage by Hamas in Gaza along with 222 other civilians.
But the teen’s body was eventually discovered two weeks after the massacre.
Lianne’s husband and the girls’ father, Eli, are still missing. This also applies to her uncle Yossi. They are believed to be being held in Gaza, but the family has not been informed.
Lianne, Noiya and Yahel were commemorated together by their family and friends at the Kfar Harif cemetery.
Her parents and three brothers, who traveled with her, were among those who paid their respects in a series of recorded messages, the Daily Mail reported.
“Our Lianne was the light in our family life. “She had a wonderfully caring nature,” said her mother, Gill.
“She would help anyone who was in trouble, whether it was physical, emotional or financial, and she was there for them.
“Lianne was funny, with a dry sense of humor – sometimes irreverent, but never malicious.”
Gill also described her daughter as a “great mother” to Noiya and Yahel and a “great support” to Eli.
Hundreds of well-wishers gathered in the shady cemetery on the edge of the kibbutz.
Many wore T-shirts calling for the safe return of Eli and his brother Yossi.
