At least 32 people have been tragically killed in a devastating multi-vehicle crash in Egypt.

More than 60 people were also injured after a passenger bus crashed into a parked vehicle in fog on a highway between the capital Cairo and Alexandria.

The impact caused a pile-up involving nearly thirty vehicles, some of which caught fire on Saturday morning.

Ambulances rushed to the scene of the horrific collision on the desert road to transport the injured to nearby hospitals, according to Egypt’s Health Ministry.

A total of 63 people are said to have been injured.

According to local media reports, the bus was heading to Cairo when it collided with the stationary vehicle.

Then more cars crashed into the bus and flew away.

Shocking images circulating online showed many burnt-out vehicles on the side of the road as firefighters battled the flames.

Stunned onlookers watched the aftermath in disbelief.

The state-run newspaper al-Ahram reported that 29 vehicles were involved in the accident, which took place in the city of Nubariya, about 160 kilometers (100 miles) north of Cairo.

According to local reports, Egypt’s weather bureau had warned of heavy fog on the roads a day earlier.

Debris could be seen across the street as thick black smoke rose into the air.

Al-Ahram newspaper also quoted police sources as saying that an oil leak from one vehicle caused the collision and caused other vehicles to catch fire.

Earlier this week, at least seven people were killed in a 150-car crash after a “super fog” blanketed major roads in southern Louisiana, US.
