Colombia registers 1,497 infections and 36 deaths from coronavirus in one day

Colombia added this Saturday 1,497 infections and 36 deaths from coronavirusFigures that total 4,960,641 infections and 126,372 deaths since the beginning of the pandemic, reported the Ministry of Health.

According to the daily bulletin of the health authority, the highest number of cases registered on this day was confirmed in Atlántico, with 361, a department followed in figures by Antioquia (305), Bogotá (222), Valle del Cauca (130), Magdalena (78) and Meta (74).

Meanwhile, the deaths, of which 33 occurred in previous days, were recorded mainly in Antioquia (8); Valle del Cauca (6); Magdalena (5); Cundinamarca (3), and Atlántico, Norte de Santander and Santander with two deaths in each place.

With the infection data reported today, the regions in which the most cases have been reported since the beginning of the health emergency are Bogotá (1,450,109), Antioquia (747,154), Valle del Cauca (407,513), Atlántico (321,879), Cundinamarca (263,706) and Santander (225,340).

Despite the high figures that Colombia has had, today 15,546 infections remain active in the country, representing only 0.31% of all infections.

Although data on infections similar to those registered at the beginning of the pandemic have been confirmed in the country in recent weeks, the authorities continue to search for positive cases and today 45,313 samples were processed, of which 26,778 were PCR-type and 18,535 of antigens, for a total of 25.6 million tests performed.

In addition, the Ministry of Health also reported that 300,392 vaccines against the coronavirus were applied yesterday, with which the country accumulates 40,705,207 doses administered.

Of that total, 17,099,899 already have the complete vaccination schedule and 23,605,308 have a single dose.
