Elon Musk will discuss “online anti-Semitism” with the President of Israel

In the midst of the war between Israel and Hamas, billionaire and social network X big boss Elon Musk is heading to Jerusalem this Monday. He is scheduled to speak with Israeli President Isaac Herzog about the online fight against anti-Semitism.

During this meeting, scheduled for this afternoon, President Herzog will be accompanied by “representatives of the families of hostages held by Hamas.” He will “emphasize the need for action to combat rising anti-Semitism online,” his office said.

Elon Musk’s visit to Jerusalem came on the final day of a renewed truce between Israel and the Palestinian Islamist movement Hamas, which in recent days has allowed the release of hostages held in the Gaza Strip and Palestinian prisoners held in prisons in Israel. The Israeli army estimates the total number of hostages taken into Gaza on October 7 during Hamas’ deadly attack on Israeli territory at 240. According to Israeli authorities, the attack killed 1,200 people, the vast majority of them civilians. In response, Israel vowed to “eliminate” Hamas, which seized power in the Gaza Strip in 2007 and is classified as a terrorist organization by the United States, the European Union and Israel.

Conspiracy theory among white nationalists

Jewish organizations have reported an increase in anti-Semitic acts in various countries since the beginning of this war. The White House, the seat of the American president, last week accused Elon Musk of “disgustingly promoting anti-Semitic and racist hatred” in one of his posts on X, formerly Twitter. The billionaire responded to the account owner, who wrote that the Jewish people encourage “hatred of white people,” with the following message: “You told the honest truth.” For the White House, the publication merely reiterates a conspiracy theory popular among white nationalists that Jews have a secret plan to encourage illegal immigration into Western countries in order to undermine the white majority there.

In September, before the war between Israel and Hamas, Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu met with Elon Musk in San Francisco (California, USA) and spoke live from the podium of the man who is also the boss of giants Tesla and SpaceX. “I hope you find the strength to put an end to anti-Semitism. (on X) or push it back as much as possible,” the head of government told President X, within the framework of freedom of expression.

The Israeli press reported on Sunday evening about a possible meeting between Musk and Netanyahu, which, however, was not confirmed by the Prime Minister’s Office.
