The truce between Israel and Hamas will be extended for another two days

The truce agreement and exchange of hostages for prisoners between Israel and the Islamic group Hamaswhich began on Friday and expired today, will be extended for another two days, as announced by the Palestinian Islamic group and the government of Qatar.

The spokesperson for the Qatar Department of Foreign Affairs, Majed al Ansariwrote on his social media account “the State of Qatar announces that, as part of ongoing mediation, an agreement has been reached to extend the humanitarian truce for two more days in Gaza strip”.

Speaking to Qatar’s state news agency, QNAbefore the announcement of the truce extension, Al Ansari expressed Qatar’s desire that this serve to “achieve a permanent ceasefire in the Range and prevent civilian bloodshed.”

Until now, the Israeli government did not comment on the extent of the truce.

This announcement comes shortly before will expire The agreement, which came into force last Friday at 07:00 local time (05:00 GMT) and was expected to last four days.

Apart from some minor inconveniences, both parties respected the pact, which saw the release of 58 hostages held captive in Gaza and 117 Palestinian prisoners in Israeli prisons.

This Monday the fourth exchange is scheduled and Israel has already announced that it has received a list of hostages who will be released today.

Between the 58 kidnapped people released by Hamas Since Friday, 19 foreigners who are not part of the pact have been included.

The agreement between Israel and the Islamic group was made possible thanks to the mediation of Qatar, Egypt and USA and provides for the release of 50 Israeli hostages in exchange for 150 Palestinian prisoners, all minors or women.

Additionally, it includes input humanitarian help to the Gaza Strip and a clause under which the pact could be extended for up to ten days if Hamas agreed to hand over at least ten more prisoners for each additional day.
