Petro asks the Public Ministry to investigate WhatsApp messages requesting his death

The Colombian president, Gustavo Pedroreported this Tuesday that he has received new death threats through Whatsapp so he asked the Prosecutor’s office investigate the authors.

“I request the Public Ministry of Colombia in its role of investigating the author of the messages in Whatsapp who are calling for my death and manipulating public opinion”, wrote the head of state on his X account (formerly Twitter).

In the messages mentioned by the president Petro audios are heard like this “we have to overthrow him (kill him) by hook or by crook” or “they won’t let this guy end the government, It’s because they hit him in the head That is, because they go downhill from there.”according to local media.

Apparently, when the expression “this type“, reference would be made to the president Petro.

The audio of Whatsapp went viral on the social network, so the Colombian government official asked the Prosecutor’s office investigate the fact.

Petro reported death threats several times. One of them from the criminal gang “The Cordillera“who allegedly intended to kill him in the Coffee Axis (center) in 2022, when he was a presidential candidate.

In this regard the Prosecutor’s office reported that the investigation was under investigation.

At the time, the Petro campaign assured in a statement that “According to the work carried out by the security team who received first-hand information from sources in the region, the criminal group Mountain chain would be planning an attack on the life of Presidential candidate”.
