Terrorist attack in Jerusalem: two killed and several injured

According to the latest report, a shooting took place in Jerusalem on Thursday morning, leaving two dead and seven injured. According to emergency services and Israeli police, two men opened fire at about 7:40 a.m. “near a bus stop” located “at the entrance” to the city, from the west. “The two suspects involved in the shooting were neutralized at the scene,” police said in a statement.

Jerusalem Police Director Doron Torgeman told reporters at the scene of the shooting that “two terrorists [étaient] arrived in a car and armed one with an M-16 and the other with a pistol.” In the surveillance video, we see them park the car at a bus stop, get out and shoot those around them at point-blank range. According to the Israeli intelligence service Shin Bet, cited by Israeli media, the attackers were two brothers “connected to Hamas.”

“Disgusting” attack

“A disgusting terrorist attack in Jerusalem this morning. We unequivocally condemn such brutal violence. My thoughts are with the families of the victims and I offer my sincere condolences to all affected,” US Ambassador to Israel Jack Lew wrote on X (formerly Twitter).

Two weeks ago, an Israeli soldier was killed and five Israeli security forces were wounded in an attack on a checkpoint separating Jerusalem from the occupied West Bank, an attack claimed by the Ezzedine al-Qassam Brigade, the armed wing of Hamas. Three attackers were shot dead.
