Mexico: AMLO will send bill to ban electronic cigarettes

The president of Mexico, Andrés Manuel López Obrador (AMLO)said this Thursday that he will send a bill before he leaves the presidency in 2024 to ban electronic cigarettes, known as ‘vapers’.

The president, who had already threatened to take this measure, recalled that these devices harm the health of those who consume them, for which he criticized the minister of the Mexican Supreme Court Javier Laynez Potisekwhich granted protection to a company against the decree that intended to ban the sale of electronic cigarettes.

“It is technically and scientifically proven that they harm young people, destroy their lungs and all their respiratory tracts. How can I stay like this just because Laynez decided?declared the president.

López Obrador ensured that those who are in favor of continuing to trade “They are looking for profit”after Laynez argued to cancel the decree suspending the sale of electronic cigarettes “affects the commercial and commercial relationship”.
